At Perform Southampton we know the benefits of Pilates during pregnancy and following the birth of your baby. We understand all the physical, emotional and psychological changes that occur to your body and mind during pregnancy and after. Pilates is a great way to respond to these demands.
Ante-natal Pilates Classes
Ante-natal Pilates classes can help pregnant ladies develop greater core strength, pelvic stability and stronger pelvic floor muscles while also improving flexibility and enabling relaxation. Ante-natal Pilates ensures that you exercise in a healthy way that is tailored to suit each person at each trimester. Pilates should help avoid common problems that can occur such as backache, pelvic girdle pain, postural imbalances, low-energy levels and poor circulation.
If you have been practicing Pilates regularly than you can join our Pilates class as soon as you feel ready however, if you are new to Pilates then we recommend that you do not start a class until you have had your dating scan at around 12-14 weeks.
Our ante-natal Pilates classes are small and friendly and led by a qualified physiotherapist who specialises in ante-natal and post-natal Pilates.
Post-natal Pilates Classes
Post-natal Pilates is beneficial for helping in the post-natal period and beyond. Post-natal Pilates can commence 6 weeks following the birth after you have had your 6 week health check with your GP or Midwife. Post-natal classes are small and friendly and led by a qualified physiotherapist who specialises in ante-natal and post-natal Pilates.
They will work on improving your core strength, pelvic floor strength, posture, flexibility and relaxation allowing you to focus on yourself and your needs at this busy time. The exercises will be tailored to suit you.
The course consists of 6 sessions for £50 with no more than 8 people in your class for a personal approach.
